On Thursday, September 9, 2025, Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE) held its 2025 Matriculation Ceremony for New Students. The event was attended by university leaders including Fang Hongxing, Secretary of the CPC DUFE Committee; Wang Xuhui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC DUFE Committee and President of DUFE; along with Tong Chunguang, Sun Wujun, Wang Weitong, Liu Xianfeng, Shi Jinfang, Zhu Kai, and Standing Committee members Ji Yanping, Zhao Liang, and Wang Wei. Leaders from faculties and schools, and representatives of teachers, alumni, and parents, joined the new undergraduate and postgraduate students in the DUFE stadium to celebrate the beginning of their new academic journey.
The ceremony commenced at 9:00 AM with the playing of the National Anthem and the raising of the Five-Star Red Flag. Secretary Fang Hongxing pinned the university emblems on representatives of the new undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and international students, conveying his earnest expectations and best wishes. All freshmen then put on their ones, pledging to uphold the university motto, “Broaden Intellectual Horizon and Contribute to Social Well-being,” and to strive for national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
President Wang Xuhui delivered a speech titled “Journey”, offering four pieces of advice to the new generation of DUFE students:
● Embrace the Legacy: Explore DUFE’s history and the stories of its predecessors, cherish the commitment to serving the nation with expertise in finance and economics, and carry forward the DUFE spirit;
● Utilize Resources: Leverage DUFE’s platforms to build a solid professional foundation, master digital and intelligent technologies, foster interdisciplinary thinking, and evolve into versatile talents with comprehensive abilities;
● Build Resilience: Temper your will and character, learn to overcome setbacks, strengthen your resilience and perseverance, maintain physical fitness, and refine your moral integrity;
● Shoulder Responsibilities: Bravely shoulder the mission of youth in the new era, integrate knowledge with action, translate learning into practical efforts, and contribute to social progress by advancing Chinese modernization.
Wang Xinghui, an alumnus (Bachelor’s in International Economics and Trade, Class of 2000; Master's in Public Administration, Class of 2004) and current Vice President of Neutech Group and President of Neutech Health Technology Company, shared his career growth experiences. He extended sincere blessings to the students, encouraging them to build a strong professional foundation, reinvent themselves through experiences, embrace change, integrate knowledge across fields, and achieve extraordinary success in the future.
Professor Liu Hang from the School of Accounting spoke on behalf of the faculty. Drawing from his own experiences, he advised students not to be overly concerned with their starting point but to focus on exploration and innovation to realize their potential. He encouraged them to pursue their dreams courageously, make friends, develop good habits, cherish their university years, and achieve academic excellence.
Wang Peihan, a postgraduate newcomer from the School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, shared his understanding of the DUFE spirit. He stated that all new students should delve into academics, discover their passions through innovation, equip themselves with knowledge, and set sail from DUFE towards a broader world and a more expansive future.
Cui Lanlan, an undergraduate freshman from the Surrey International Institute, delivered a speech on behalf of her peers. She expressed that students should shoulder the mission of the times, uphold moral integrity, enhance professional skills, embrace diversity, dare to explore, and respond to the challenges of the era with practical actions.
During the ceremony, Yang Songlin, a freshman from the School of Marxism, led the oath-taking. All freshmen took a solemn oath: uphold lofty ideals, serve the country with expertise in finance and economics, shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation, and contribute to social progress in economic and social fields; love the Communist Party of China and the motherland, strive for excellence with diligence, live up to the prime of youth, and continue writing DUFE’s glorious legacy; and uphold the aspirations of predecessors and bravely undertake the responsibilities of the times.
The ceremony was presided over by Liu Xianfeng, a member of the CPC DUFE Committee and Vice-President.
The incoming students of 2025 will bear in mind the Party’s expectations, fulfill their solemn vows, shoulder the mission of the times, closely link their personal ideals with the future of the motherland, and compose a song of youth in their journey of striving.
